Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools

What levels are available? This course is available at Level 3
Who is this course for? This course has been designed for full and part time learners. The course develops both practical and knowledge required to work in the role of a teaching assistant in schools. You will require a minimum of 3 hours per week work experience in a school. 
What will I learn? At Level 3 your course may include:
  • Health, safety and security of the learning environment
  • Professional relationships
  • Child and young people's positive behaviour
  • Support assessment for learning
  • Child and young people's development
  • Safeguarding and welfare of children and young people
  • Supervision during visits and activities
  • Supporting literacy and numeracy development
When will I need to attend? This course will last 32-36 weeks
How much will it cost me? 17-18 year olds on a full-time programme will pay no tuition fees. If you are over 19 years costs will vary dependant on your household income. Please contact us for further information.
What do I need? A text book and course stationery and a clean DBS check.
Can I get financial help?
There are support packages in place for travel, childcare, bursary, food vouchers and kits. This financial help is dependent on your household income and personal circumstances. If you are over 24 years old and applying for a Level 3 course, a student loan system is in operation.
What can I do after the course? At level 3 you will be able to apply for a teaching assistant role in a school.
