Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector City & Guilds 7304 - Level 4

INTRODUCTION

This is the second tier of the teacher training qualification and is part of the progression route into licensed teacher status. It is designed to prepare those who work in any form of post 16 training, whether that be in a private organisation or FE college. It forms part of the new Qualified Teacher Lifelong Sector (QTLLS) framework. Teachers in a full teaching role have 5 years to meet the new license to teach status. This may be as an associate teacher of life long learning skills (ATLS) or as a qualified teacher in life long learning (QTLS).


Course includes:

* Planning and enabling learners
* Principles of learning
* Programme design
* Concepts of pedagogical and andragogical models of learning
* Resources and their use
* Roles and functions of teachers
* Quality assurance processes

You will complete written and practical assignments, including teaching observations.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?

Approximately one 3 hour session a week for 26 weeks.

ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS

You need to have gained PTLLS, be qualified in your own subject area, usually to level 3 or equivalent, and either teach or intend to teach post 16 learners. It is strongly recommended that English and Maths ability is around level 2 ( GCSE C, CSE 1, O level C, KS L2). You will require a minimum of 30 hours teaching.

WHERE COULD IT LEAD?

The course gives the teaching qualification requirements to apply for a license to teach.. The course will provide entry requirements for the C&G 7305 Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS) or the Certificate in Education (Cert Ed). Any one of which will lead to the QTLS license to teach.
