OCR - Entry Certificate in Hairdressing
Who is this course for? This course has been designed for full-time learners between the ages of 16-17 years. The course develops both practical and knowledge skills at a Foundation level.
What will I learn?

The course consists of four sections:

Unit 2 Salon reception duties

Unit 3 Personal presentation

Unit 4 Health and Safety practice

Unit 5 Introduction to hairdressing services

Unit 6 Introduction to basic perming and colouring

Unit 9 Industry and occupation awareness

Key Skills

Level 1 Communication

Level 2 Application of Number

Level 3 Information Technology

Beauty Level 2

Unit 201 Working in the beauty industry

Unit 202 Health and Safety in the salon

Unit 203 Consultation

Unit 206 Provide manicure treatments

Can I enrol onto this course? No formal qualifications are required.
When will I need to attend? 13 hours per week for 36 weeks for hairdressing with additional hours for Key Skills and Manicure (both mandatory).
How much will it cost me? 17 to 19 year olds on a full-time programme will pay no tuition fees. If you are over 19 years costs will vary dependent on your circumstances. Please contact us for further information.
What do I need? A college hairdressing kit is compulsory at £150 and payable when you enrol. Part of this cost may be reimbursed through a grant, dependent on income.
Can I get help with travel costs? If you are 16 to 18 years old, live in Lincolnshire and this is your nearest college you may apply for transport from Lincolnshire County Council if your home is more than 3 miles from the college.  If you application is successful you will be required to make a contribution towards the cost of the transport before a travel pass is issued.
Can I get an EMA? Educational Maintenance Allowance (EMA) can be applied for, on the internet at: http://www.dfes.gov.uk/financialhelp/ema/
What can I do after this course? This course will entitle you to progress to Hairdressing Level 2.
